Hair Restoration 101
At DiStefano Hair Restoration Center, we offer two methods of hair transplant surgery—Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). In both methods, hair follicles are taken from a designated donor site and transplanted to the area experiencing hair loss. While both methods of hair restoration are noninvasive and produce great results, there are some key differences in the two.
In addition to our two surgical hair transplants, we have a number of non-surgical treatments for those of you that are experiencing thinning early, or want to start maintenance therapy to prevent more loss!
- Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) In this more traditional form of hair replacement, multiple hair bundles are removed as a single, precise strip from the identified donor site and relocated to the area experiencing hair loss. This procedure is good for patients requiring a larger number of grafts. Typically it is a shorter surgical time and less expensive than the FUE procedure
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) In this minimally invasive procedure developed exclusively by the DiStefano team, individual hair follicles are transplanted from the donor site directly to plantation sites created in sections of the scalp. This procedure is best suited for those requiring transplants of 2000 grafts or less. It provides no linear scarring or stitches and typically has less post-operative recovery time.
- The LaserCap LaserCap has perfected the delivery of prescription-strength laser therapy for hair regrowth. A light and flexible cap lined with true laser diodes, LaserCap illuminates the hair follicles with monochromatic red laser light at a finely-tuned wavelength and intensity.
- 82M and 82F 82M/F are both topical solutions that promote hair growth over the entire head, and not just in the crown area like most over the counter Minoxidil. 82F contains the prescription drug, Finasteride. This is a great alternative to people wanting to use Finasteride but not take it orally.
- PhytoFoamRX PhytoFoamRx™, compounded with TrichoFoam™, is an alcohol-free and propylene glycol-free foam vehicle for water soluble and some liposoluble actives. Formulated with gentle, non-irritating and sensory-pleasing ingredients. Our blend at DiStefano contains Latanoprost, Minoxidil, and Spironolactone. This compound is clinically proven to help thicken hair and stop loss.
