Hair Transplant Procedures by Dr. DiStefano
Individual Graft Technique™ (IGT™)
Dr. Mark DiStefano has practiced the hair transplant procedure known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) for over 5 years.
In addition, he started working with body hair to supplement the donor area when there is not enough scalp hair to complete the transplant process. This has proven to be very successful as many patients are eager to remove hair from unwanted areas of the body and have them gain a new life on their scalp.
Dr. DiStefano has been teaching this technique to other hair restoration surgeons both nationally and internationally. He has been invited to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) Meetings in Sydney, Australia, Vancouver, Canada and New York City, New York. He has also given surgical clinics and seminars in San Diego, California. He has lectured in Madrid, Spain, Paris, France as well as Zurich, Switzerland for the European Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ESHRS). He has also trained plastic surgical residents at the University Of Massachusetts Hospital School Of Medicine.
Individual Graft Technique™ (IGT™) is a minimally invasive procedure that moves your own hair-one graft at a time. It requires the doctor and his technicians to be highly skilled and trained in the IGT™ method. Dr. DiStefano developed specialized micro-instruments to remove the entire follicle, keeping the bulb, dermal papillae, capsule and outer root sheath undisturbed to prevent damage to the follicle. This assures the best opportunity for re-growth of the hair following reinsertion in the awaiting scalp area. This equipment is custom made to Dr. DiStefano's exacting specifications and remains exclusive to his practice. Dr. DiStefano continues to provide instructional training in the IGT™ Method to guest surgeons at his office in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Dr. Mark DiStefano has practiced the hair transplant procedure known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) for over 5 years. As Dr. DiStefano was learning the FUE procedure he recognized the need for improvements in performing the procedure. In 2003, Dr. DiStefano started developing new surgical instruments designed to improve density a natural appearance.
